Kazakhstan Agency of International Development “KazAID” and UNDP held a round table on the topic “ODA development in Kazakhstan: overview and perspectives”

October 11, 2023 – Kazakhstan Agency of International Development “KazAID” and UNDP held a round table in Astana on the topic “ODA development in Kazakhstan: overview and perspectives”.

Participants of the event included deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan G.Sarybaev, A.Satvaldiev, A.Tolamisov, along with the representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of National Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United Nations Development Programme and international experts.

The speakers were the Chairman of the Board of KazAID Dr. Arken Arystanov, an international expert on ODA Ms. Astrid Schnitzer-Skjønsberg, a specialist in Partnership Development of Istanbul Regional Hub of UNDP for Europe and the CIS, Ms. Berna Bayazit Baran. In their speeches, they reflected the importance of official development assistance for Kazakhstan and shared international experience in providing ODA. During the discussion, the participants of the round table gave specific recommendations on strengthening the Agency's capacity and proposed mechanisms for implementing ODA within the framework of the establishment of the UN Regional Center for SDGs for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.
