KazAID official statement on cooperation with USAID

The Kazakhstan Agency of International Development “KazAID” reports that incorrect information about KazAID’s cooperation with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) has recently surfaced in various social media platforms and news outlets. In particular, a number of journalists have referred to inaccurate information regarding the alleged US funding of KazAID’s anti-Russian journalism narrative.

In this regard, we officially declare that KazAID has not received funding from the United States, and it is not in KazAID’s plans for the future, as the Agency is a subordinate agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is funded according to the budget of the MFA

A Memorandum of Cooperation was indeed signed between KazAID and USAID in 2021. As part of this agreement, an online summit for Central Asian countries and Afghanistan was organized in 2021 to support women entrepreneurship. In 2022, a roundtable on water management for Central Asian universities was held. Next year, the agencies intend to implement joint projects in healthcare and digitalization.

The following information is published on KazAID’s official website: www.kazaid.kz.
