Made in KZ: Samsung localizes production of washing machines with SmartThings functions

Silk Road Electronics, a leading manufacturer of household appliances in the Karaganda region, and Samsung Electronics Corporation of South Korea have entered into a strategic partnership to localize the production of washing machines at Silk Road Electronics facilities in Kazakhstan.

The Saransk-based Silk Road Electronics plant will produce intelligent washing machines that meet Samsung's strict standards, where each stage of production is carefully monitored. The products not only meet global requirements for energy efficiency, reliability and safety, but also offer innovative features and solutions.

Samsung's modern washing machines are not just washing machines, but advanced home comfort centers: thanks to advanced features and connectivity to the SmartThings ecosystem, they independently perform many tasks for the user and create the most comfortable environment in the home.

– This agreement is a reflection of faith in our capabilities, our team and our path. We are moving to a new stage of development with Samsung Electronics.: Together, we are creating the technologies of tomorrow today," said Alexander Kritskiy, Director of Silk Road Electronics.

The new agreement is a continuation of the successful partnership between the companies. In December 2024, the first agreement was signed on the joint production of Samsung TVs at the facilities of Silk Road Electronics.

"Cooperation with Silk Road Electronics opens a new page in the history of our relationship: by combining Samsung's advanced developments and our partner's high–tech production facilities, we are setting a precedent for creating an ecosystem of innovations that will provide consumers with the highest level of comfort and reliability," said Daniyar Ibrayev, Head of Sales of household Appliances at Samsung Electronics.

Production is scheduled to start in the second half of 2025. Initially, all products will be aimed at the domestic market of Kazakhstan. Export shipments are not planned in the near future, but the possibility of entering foreign markets in the future may be considered, which will allow Samsung and Silk Road Electronics to strengthen their positions in the international arena.
