E–commerce is one of the drivers of economic growth. The Karaganda region ranks third in the country in terms of online sales. In 2023, the volume of electronic commerce exceeded 30 billion tenge. By the end of 2024, an increase of 25% is projected.

The development of e-commerce was reported at a staff meeting.

– The number of orders of the population through the Internet resource exceeds 2.3 million units, which is 17.8% of the total volume in Kazakhstan. Mostly Karaganda residents buy electronic gadgets and computers, cosmetics, medical and stationery, household appliances and furniture via the Internet. A new niche for the development of online commerce has become the opening of the unique Teez marketplace platform with a capacity of up to 27 million orders per year, with the creation of about 8,000 new jobs across the country in the future," said Irina Lyubarskaya, Head of the Entrepreneurship Department.

Currently, 22,000 sellers of goods across the country, both LLP and individual entrepreneurs, cooperate with the Teez marketplace.

– Our marketplace is characterized by a unique model in which all goods are located in one central hub in Karaganda, processed from here and delivered throughout Kazakhstan in one day. Currently, about 350 people work in Karaganda. In total, the marketplace team consists of about 800 people. We plan to eventually provide jobs for 8,000 people throughout Kazakhstan," says Anton Ivanov, Head of Warehouse Logistics at Teez marketplace.

A number of companies offer e-commerce services in the region. There are 278 online delivery points in the region.

Another major project will be the creation of a transport and logistics hub based on the Sary-Arka airport.
There are trainings for entrepreneurs where they can improve digital literacy and gain new skills.
"As a major industrial center of the country, our region is actively developing e–commerce, which helps to increase the competitiveness of local enterprises and improve the quality of services provided to the population," said Ermaganbet Bulekpayev, head of the region.
He noted that with the opening of the marketplace, great opportunities have appeared for local producers. This resource should be used to sell domestic products, the governor of the region emphasized.
