Karaganda region strengthens international cooperation in healthcare

A delegation of specialists from the Chinese-Japanese Hospital of Jilin University arrived in Karaganda. At a meeting with the governor of the region Ermaganbet Bulekpayev, prospects for cooperation in healthcare were discussed.

– Karaganda region is not only the industrial heart of Kazakhstan, but also a region with strong potential in the field of healthcare. We are actively developing medical infrastructure, introducing modern technologies and training our specialists both domestically and abroad. We pay special attention to international cooperation. Working with our colleagues at Jilin University opens up opportunities for joint projects in the field of prevention, diagnosis and treatment," the head of the region said.

Yerkin-Dauir Kurmangaliyev, director of the Multidisciplinary Hospital named after Professor H. J. Makazhanov, said that the partnership with Chinese colleagues began in April this year. A robotic system for brain surgery was tested together.

– During the testing period, we performed 11 operations. Some of them were held in Kazakhstan for the first time. There is a need for further deeper cooperation," Yerkin-Dauir Kurmangaliyev said. – Our clinic has extensive experience in the use of deep stimulation systems. The project was launched in 2017. During this period, more than 100 patients underwent surgery. Makazhanov Clinic is a leader in neurosurgery in Kazakhstan. We are ready to share our experience, our best practices.

Rector of Karaganda Medical University Anar Turmukhambetova spoke about international relations. According to her, cooperation has already been established with two universities from China – the Chinese Medical University and Xi'an University. And there are prospects for partnership with Jilin University in alliance with the Makazhanov Clinic.

– Kazakhstan and China are long–standing partners. We came here to exchange experiences, to learn something from you. We hope to work together," said Yufei Gao, Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Chinese–Japanese Hospital of Jilin University.

Ermaganbet Bulekpayev assured that the necessary support will be provided for the implementation of joint initiatives.
