Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov cited the creation of the Saran industrial zone in the Karaganda region as an illustrative example of the right approach, UKIMET reports. The Head of Government instructed to follow this experience for the development of single-industry towns in the country.

– The Ministry of Industry, together with the akimats of Aktobe, Atyrau and Karaganda regions, needs to create industrial zones by the end of this year, following the example of the Saran city in the single-industry Khromtau, Satpayev, Balkhash and Kulsary towns. In the future, this experience should be extended to other single–industry towns," Olzhas Bektenov said at a government meeting.
The development of small and medium-sized businesses in single-industry towns will reduce the dependence of employment on city-forming enterprises, the Prime Minister noted. This stimulates the diversification of the economy and contributes to the creation of new jobs.

Recall that the Saran industrial zone was established in the Karaganda region in 2021 on the site of the industrial site of the former RTI plant. It has become a growth point for the development of a single-industry town and the diversification of the region's economy. A number of major projects have already been implemented on the territory of the IZ – bus, tire factories and household appliances production. New projects in the field of metallurgy are planned. The creation of the center also stimulated the resuscitation of housing, previously abandoned multi-storey buildings are being restored in this area.
