Karaganda hosts the ITF International Tennis Tournament

The International tennis tournament of the ITF – J60 KARAGANDA OPEN 1 series is taking place in Karaganda. More than 100 players will perform on the courts of the Tennis Center.

The competition will last 6 days. Athletes from Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, China and the Czech Republic will take part in them. Karaganda's Yana Kim and Rodion Trigel will play in the main draw.

– There are good courts and conditions in Karaganda, so it was decided to hold the tournament here. Tennis players aged 15 to 17 years old compete in singles and doubles. This is a good opportunity for both foreigners and local athletes to show their level. The competitions provide an opportunity to rise in the world ranking in the Juniors category," says tournament director Dina Nurpeisova.

Seventeen-year-old Dmitry Titov came from Moscow. Last year, the tennis player was already in Kazakhstan and became the winner of two international ITF tournaments.

– There is a good organization here, competent judges, they always welcome you, – says Dmitry. – I like tennis. I have been studying since I was 5 years old. My idol is Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic. We plan to enter the international arena and play higher categories of tournaments. Maybe even get on the junior helmet.

Sati Aubakirova from Almaty, trains at the Kazakhmys club. At the age of 17, she became the winner of international tournaments more than once.

– High-level tournaments are held annually in Karaganda. I like coming here for competitions. The players who compete here then compete on junior helmets. I'm going to finish this year and show myself to the maximum. Most likely, I will go to America and play for Kazakhstan. The dream is to get to the Grand Slam," Sati shared.
