The winners of grants for the support and development of volunteerism were determined in the Karaganda region

The Regional Volunteer Forum in Temirtau brought together those who strive to make the world around them a better place. The most active volunteers received grants from the akim of the region to support the best volunteer projects, certificates and letters of thanks. In total, 73 volunteer organizations and groups work in the Karaganda region.

– Volunteers are unique people who care about the fate of their country. The volunteer movement in our region is becoming a great social force with its own direction. There are 73 volunteer organizations and groups in the region, consisting of 4.5 thousand residents of the region, mostly young people. They have carried out 502 measures to provide assistance to about 40 thousand large and low-income families, single elderly people, the disabled and other particularly needy categories of the population. There is a regional front office of volunteers, which is engaged in general coordination and provides resource assistance to volunteer organizations. Today, the efforts of volunteers make it possible to solve many problems in various spheres of public life," said Deputy Akim of the region Yerlan Kusayyn.

The forum was attended by representatives of the United Nations Volunteers Program, volunteer organizations from Central Asian countries and the Organization of Legal Entities "National Volunteer Network". They discussed a wide range of topics, including the activities of volunteer organizations, the role of corporate responsibility in supporting civic initiatives, volunteering in the environment, education, healthcare and emergency situations.

The forum also presented grants for the best volunteer projects, certificates and letters of thanks to active volunteers.

Seven volunteer organizations became the winners of the grant competition to support volunteer activities.

Among the winners is Yerzhan Rakhmetov from the Abai district with the ecological project "Clean World".

– Our project is aimed at sorting secondary raw materials, in our case, caps. With the money received from the recycling, we plan to purchase stationery for socially vulnerable families, as well as for families who have a difficult life situation. We will install containers in Abai schools. In the future, we want to place such containers throughout the Abai district. We plan to use the funds received to purchase containers, tables, posters, etc., – said Yerzhan Rakhmetov, coordinator of the Clean World project.

The event was held in the format of an "interactive cafe", where participants were able to get acquainted with the projects of representatives of international organizations.

The initiator of the forum was the Department for Youth Policy of the Karaganda region.
