Karaganda Technical University celebrates its 70th anniversary

This year Karaganda Technical University named after Abylkas Saginov turns 70 years old. Veterans, teachers and employees of one of the largest scientific and educational centers of the region were congratulated at the Kazakh Drama Theater named after S. Seifullin.

The congratulatory address on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was read by the akim of the Karaganda region Ermaganbet Bulekpayev:

"Congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the formation of the Karaganda Technical University named after Abylkas Saginov. This is a landmark event for the education and science sector of our country. You provide the education of the younger generation in accordance with modern requirements and make a great contribution to the training of qualified personnel in engineering and technical specialties. Many of your graduates work tirelessly for the development of our sovereign country. In this regard, I express my sincere gratitude to the pedagogical community. Today, combining education and science with production is one of the main tasks. To increase the competitiveness of Kazakhstan, it is very important to conduct research based on modern technologies. I believe that the university staff fulfills this duty with honor. I wish you good health, great success, and may your work be fruitful. Sincerely, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev".

Among the guests are Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kuanysh Yergaliyev, deputies of the Senate and Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of ministries and departments, rectors of foreign and Kazakh universities. Leading scientists from more than a hundred foreign and Kazakh universities and research institutes, heads of major industrial enterprises came to congratulate the university.

Numerous congratulations were also received from the heads of domestic and foreign universities, large industrial enterprises, graduates of previous years.

Nikolay Simonyan graduated from the Polytechnic Institute in 1985, but still fondly remembers the time of his studies.

– I am a graduate of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. It was at the Polytechnic that he gained knowledge and found friends. Every five years, my classmates and I meet, we remember the teachers. Karaganda Technical University is the pride of Kazakhstan. Specialists who are needed by our society are trained here. As the head of a construction company, I would like more young people to choose Karaganda Technical University," says Nikolay Simonyan.

Karaganda Technical University named after A. Saginov has become a forge of engineering personnel not only for Kazakhstan. For 70 years, the university has trained more than 100 thousand specialists who successfully work at almost all production enterprises of the republic, as well as in countries near and far abroad.

Today, the university cooperates with universities from 24 countries of the world. Actively participates in international scientific and educational projects – Erasmus+, Sinergy, Shanghai Cooperation Organization University, Confucius Institute.

The university celebrates its anniversary by entering the TOP 651+ in one of the most prestigious world rankings – QS World University Rankings. According to the results of the national ranking of the best universities in Kazakhstan in 2022, Karaganda Technical University ranks first among technical universities.

At the solemn meeting, teachers and staff of the university were also awarded badges, medals, certificates of honor and letters of thanks.

The honorary diploma of the Minister of Science and Higher Education was awarded to a member of the Board, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Aizhan Temerbayeva.

– The award is a recognition of our work. Every day we train the best engineering personnel for our country. I have been working at Karaganda Technical University for 2 years, but I already feel like a part of the university. I really like the team, the management of the university. It feels like I've been working here all my life. And I am glad that we achieve high results together every day," says Aizhan Temerbayeva.

Especially for the anniversary, a film was made about the formation and development of the Karaganda Technical University and a concert was prepared.

The presentation of four new scientific and educational complexes on digital technologies - in mining, energy, transport and construction - also took place within the walls of the jubilee university. Conferences and round tables were held on topical issues of education, science and production in the digital age.
