The Police Department of the Karaganda region has created a new department to combat cybercrime. It consists of experienced investigators, operatives and criminologists. Specialists of one of the leading IT companies and employees of the Karaganda Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after B. Beisenov were also involved in solving crimes in cyberspace.

The Cyberpole special unit was presented to the head of the region, Ermaganbet Bulekpayev.

- We decided to apply a new approach to combat Internet scammers. Applications from victims are now accepted on the principle of a "single window". Operatives, investigators and criminologists are working in parallel, - said the head of the regional police department Sanzhar Adilov. - Under the previous system, the application was passed along the chain, so valuable time was lost – 3-4 days were lost. Now there is an opportunity to block the flow of funds as soon as possible.

The cyber police unit is equipped with its own digital laboratory. Experts check gadgets and identify programs with which Internet scammers commit crimes.

- The creation of a department to combat cybercrime is a requirement of time, – said Ermaganbet Bulekpayev. - The Internet and digital technologies have entered our lives so much that we often do not even imagine what danger lurks behind seemingly harmless links or applications. Despite all the preventive work of the police, people continue to fall for the tricks of scammers. Therefore, we need a new approach to solving such cases.

There are already first results. Last week, cyber police detained two groups of alleged fraudsters. In total, about 400 such criminal cases are currently in the production of the Police Department of the Karaganda region.

It is worth noting that over the past four years alone, the total damage from Internet fraud in the Karaganda region amounted to more than 3.5 billion tenge. The police departments received more than 5 thousand appeals.
