More than 200 people take part in the VI regional Sports Contest among athletes with disabilities. Competitions are traditionally held in Karaganda.

For two days, athletes with a lesion of the musculoskeletal system, impaired hearing and vision will find out whose technique and skill is better.

Participants from six cities and seven districts of the Karaganda region will compete.

There are five sports in the program: mini-football,

Athletics,

table tennis, checkers-64 and togyzkumalak.

– The Spartakiad is held at the Zhastar sports complex, at the Shakhtar Stadium and at the Nurken Abdirov Sports Palace. The number of participants increases from year to year. The development of disabled sports is gaining momentum not only as a sport of the highest achievements, but also as a mass one. I wish the participants victories and high sporting achievements, so that everyone shows all their capabilities," said Elena Farkhutdinova, head of the regional specialized school for disabled sports.

Most of the participants are happy to have the opportunity not only to perform at competitions, but also to find like-minded people and make new acquaintances.

– Participation in competitions is very important for me. It not only gives me experience, but also gives me a chance to meet new people. Last year I became the bronze medalist of this Spartakiad. Today I also came for a victory. I have been playing tennis for three years, I like this sport," says Natalia Streltsova, a participant from the Karkaralinsky district.

Following the results of the games, athletes will be selected for the Paralympic Games of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The competitions will be held in three cities of the country – Almaty, Aktobe and Astana.
