Another world bestseller was translated into Kazakh in the Karaganda region

The Language Learning Center of the Karaganda region has translated another bestseller into Kazakh – "Once upon a Time in America" by Harry Gray.

The translator is a veteran journalist Rymbala Smailova.

– In his autobiographical novel, Harry Gray realistically showed life in America at the beginning of the XX century: poverty, general lawlessness, gang gangs. The translation turned out to be not so difficult, the storyline is interesting, there are a lot of dialogues. I translated it with great interest," says Rymbala Smailova.

The presentation of the book "Bir kezderi Americada" took place in the "House of Kasym". The first copies were distributed to the guests of the event, and also transferred to the libraries named after Bekturov and Gogol.

Recall that the Language Learning Center of the Karaganda region this year launched a special project to translate world literature into Kazakh. Two books have already been translated – "The Godfather" ("Okil ake") by Mario Puzo and "Once in America" ("Birkezderi Americada") Harry Gray.

– We took only two books for translation this year. Starting next year, we plan to translate more. Our center is engaged in adult education, so for now we have books for adults. In the future, if our project is successful, we will start translating children's publications," said Almagul Igenova, head of the Karaganda Regional Language Learning Center.
