The national teams of the regional specialized boarding schools "Murager" and Nygmet Nurmakov won prizes at the First Haileybury Championship in Almaty. They presented projects aimed at energy conservation.

More than 20 teams from different regions of the country took part in the championship. The competition has become a qualifying round of the republican stages, which will be held in Astana and Almaty in January.

The team of the school "Murager" JelTokSun presented a project of a wind farm in the direction of "Innovative projects". The guys proved to the jury that wind farms are adapted to our sharply continental climate and can generate enough energy to provide uninterrupted electricity.

– We have been working on the project for only a week and a half. There are six of us in the team. The name of our team consists of the words zhel (wind), current and sun (sun). Our project won the first place. All this is thanks to our teachers Abdulla Murzakhmetov and Berdibek Kazygulov. They guided us and taught us a lot," says team leader Robert Ayrikyan. – Now we are preparing for the republican stage, which will be held in Astana in January. That's where we scale our project, or rather, the layout of our wind farm.

The second place in the direction of "Innovative projects" was taken by the team of the Nygmet Nurmakov specialized boarding school "64 bit". Schoolchildren presented a project aimed at saving electricity by installing an ammeter on distribution networks. It will allow you to quickly find power losses in the networks and eliminate emergency gusts.

– When preparing the project, our students studied the experience of leading power engineers who work in different companies. We also analyzed the current situation on high–voltage power transmission lines," says Aidar Seilkhanov, a computer science teacher at the Nygmet Nurmakov School. – Our team also has another project in development on the topic of energy saving. We have now started to implement them. We hope to win in the next rounds.

Another team from the specialized boarding school "Murager" won the third place in the direction of "Core values". The guys from "Alash" were awarded as the most friendly team.

According to the results of all rounds of the championship, the winners will receive tickets to the First international championship, which will be held in the USA in the summer.
