Students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Karaganda Malika Meiramova, Dilnaz Tapina and Indira Dulatova have developed a device and a mobile application PosTrue to combat slouching. The girls' project won the regional stage of the Skills UP hackathon.

The leaders are mathematics teachers Saulebek Makhashev and Esentai Oner.
– We conducted a survey among schoolchildren, and many noted that they slouch. This leads to an intervertebral hernia, deformation of the respiratory tract, the appearance of complexes, fatigue and pain. Our project solves such problems as stooping and its consequences – underdevelopment of muscles and changes in posture. The target audience is people from 12 to 55 years old with loose muscles and 1-2 degrees of stoop, – the authors of the project say. – The PosTrue device consists of MPU6050 gyroscope sensors, Arduino Uno and Bluetooth module. The sensors are attached along the spine line. Using the device helps to gradually improve your posture. The application is client-server. Both doctors and patients can use it.

According to the developers, the user wears the device for 10 minutes, and during this time data about it is stored. According to them, a graph is plotted in the application – the norm of the bend angle is read and, starting from this, the degree of stoop is tracked. Through the application, the doctor can monitor his patient. Also in the application there is a calendar where the user notes when he did the exercises, which are also present in the application. In addition, there is a map showing the location of clinics, massage therapists, swimming pools, gyms and information about them (phone number, reviews, social networks, etc.).
PosTrue is not a corset that will make you keep your back straight. The device is designed to gradually improve posture, so that a person himself can make efforts to get results and see progress.

Pos True mobile app is available in three languages. Soon the schoolgirls want to launch it in beta. Then they plan to do promotion via Instagram.

– We recently presented our project at a hackathon and made it to the finals. In total, 20 teams took part in the regional qualifying round, almost all of them were from colleges and universities," says Dilnaz Tapina. – Now we will defend our project in Almaty. In the future, we want to establish mass production of our device and distribute it not only in Kazakhstan, but also throughout the CIS.
The SkillsUP youth hackathon was organized as part of the National Knowledge Week of the United Nations Development Program in Kazakhstan. Regional qualifying rounds are held in four cities of the country. The best startups will qualify for the finals – three teams from each region. The final stage of the hackathon will be held in Almaty.
