Karaganda enterprises are introducing import-substituting production. New projects appear in the special economic zone "Saryarka". Last year, its area was expanded.
Now there are nine new enterprises operating there, 12 more will be opened before 2025. Priority activities are metallurgy and processing. The volume of investments has already exceeded 100 billion tenge.
Among the new projects are plants for the production of geomembrane and rubber-metal linings. Enterprises produce import-substituting and in-demand products and create new jobs.
For example, 50 new jobs have appeared at the geomembrane manufacturing plant. Manufactured products help to preserve the environment.

– We produce about 450 tons of geomembrane per month. It is used in the construction of tailings dumps, sludge drains, ore accumulators, artificial ponds and animal burial grounds. This is 100% waterproofing from aggressive environments with a service life of up to 50 years, - says the general director of the company Yuri Ignatov. – Kazakhstan has increased the need for such a product, and we decided to produce it independently under the import substitution program.
Finished products provide the domestic market of Kazakhstan, and are also exported to Uzbekistan and Russia.
The company is a leader in the production of geosynthetic products in Kazakhstan.
Another FEZ plant is engaged in the production of rubber-metal linings. They are used in the mining industry in the construction of so-called mills.
– Now we have the main line for the production of rubber and rubber-metal linings, next year we want to launch a second line for the production of steel linings. We employ 55 people, – says the general director of the company Kuandyk Kazangapov.

The special economic zone "Saryarka" was created in 2011.
Ball valves, shut-off valves, heat-insulated pipes, technical silicon, refractory and rubber products, cast iron, steel and aluminum are produced on its territory.
