On the eighth of June, the decree of the Head of State on the creation of the Ulytau region comes into force.

How, after the official formation of the new region, the Karaganda region will develop, live on the TV channel Khabar 24.kz the head of the region Zhenis Kassymbek told.

The journalist of the TV channel asked the akim what will happen to the economy of the two regions and how the territorial division will affect the budget.
– When dividing the regions, we do not see any disadvantages either for the Karaganda region or for the Ulytau region. The budget will be divided fairly – in proportion to incoming taxes and transfers from the republican budget. Taxes and transfers from the higher budget to the Karaganda region come geographically to those regions from which the Ulytau region is created. Everything else is the income of the regions themselves. As for the proceeds from large companies, Kazakhmys Corporation is currently re-registering its enterprises in the city of Zhezkazgan. And I am sure that the new region and the regional center have all the prerequisites for further and dynamic development. Both regions will be similar in the structure of the economy and population, – said the head of the Karaganda region. – Both with a pronounced industrial orientation, dependence on the activities of system-forming enterprises.
To date, 80% of the population in the Karaganda region are residents of cities. Approximately the same ratio will be in Ulytau.

Three major projects will be implemented in Zhezkazgan on behalf of the President. One of them is the reconstruction of the Uytas–Aydos water pipeline with a length of 43 km. This will solve the long-standing problem of providing high-quality drinking water to residents of the city.
– In order to achieve transport accessibility of Ulytau, reconstruction of a section of the Kyzylorda – Zhezkazgan road with a length of 208 km and 513 km of the Zhezkazgan–Karaganda highway is planned, – the akim of the region said. – Competitive procedures are already being conducted in the direction of Kyzylorda – Zhezkazgan to determine the contractor. On the Zhezkazgan – Karaganda road, design and estimate documentation is being developed.
On March 16, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, addressing a Message to the people of Kazakhstan, announced the initiative to create the Ulytau region with a center in Zhezkazgan. The new region will also include the cities of Karazhal, Satpayev and Zhanaarkinsky and Ulytau districts.
