Jeong Ki-hong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Kazakhstan, paid an official visit to the Karaganda Region. During a meeting with Regional Governor Ermaganbet Bulekpayev, the parties discussed expanding cooperation in the fields of the economy, education, and culture.

The head of the region noted the region's interest in attracting Korean investment and developing joint projects, highlighting cooperation in the high-tech sector.

A plant manufacturing Samsung-branded home appliances is already operating in the Saran industrial zone. Plans are in place to subsequently produce ultrasound equipment there in partnership with the South Korean company Samsung Medison.
"We are prepared to provide full support for the project and ensure the prompt resolution of all organizational and infrastructure-related matters. I am confident that its successful implementation will lay the foundation for further industrial cooperation with Korean companies and attract new high-tech manufacturing facilities to the region. We attach great importance to developing relations with your country and are interested in fostering trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation," noted Ermaganbet Bulekpayev.

The Karaganda region has already established a successful track record of cooperation with Korean businesses. Companies involving Korean partners are implementing projects in industry, construction, trade, and other sectors, steadily expanding their presence in the region's economy.

The ambassador reported that he had already visited the industrial zone and familiarized himself with the plant's operations and the prospects for implementing the new project.
"This is my first official visit to the region since my appointment to Kazakhstan. I believe we have great potential for cooperation, and we will maintain close contact," said Jeong Ki-hong.

As part of the visit, the ambassador will also attend a Korean culture festival taking place on October 3 in Karaganda at the Saken Seifullin Theater. The event is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the resettlement of Koreans to Kazakhstan.
