Karaganda athletes won 35 medals at the Asian Artistic Swimming Championships

The Kazakhstan artistic swimming team triumphantly performed at the XII Asian Aquatics Championships among age groups, which was held in Bangkok (Thailand). Representatives of the Karaganda region brought the national team the largest number of awards and secured victory in the team competition.

Athletes from the Olympic Reserve Swimming School, the School of Higher Sports Excellence and the Aliya Moldagulova Boarding College set a real record by winning 35 medals: 25 gold, 9 silver and one bronze. This success is especially significant for the junior team, as Kazakhstani athletes have never achieved similar results at the Asian Championships.

Among the champions and prize-winners of the continental championship are Viktor Druzin, Dayana Dzhamanchalova, Sofia Ishchenko, Polina Merzlyakova, Anastasia Voronkova, Kuralai Sharipova, Daniyal Syrlybaev, Yulia Mishieva, Aisana Burambek, Adiya Zhampeisova, Eva Lavrenko, Milana Ashakhanova, Artem Tomchishin, Asia Tusupova, Zhansaya Shaukenova and Alisa Taranova.

The athletes were trained by coaches Elena Kotova, Oksana Moskvicheva and Maria Belozerova.

— We have traditionally competed in three age categories, but for the first time in all the years of participation, all three categories have shown such a decent result. I would especially like to mention the duet in the under-12 age group. Despite the fact that their program was a little simpler than that of their rivals, thanks to their impeccable performance, the judges recognized this performance as the best among all the duets of the Asian Championship. The team of athletes aged 13-15 also received high marks. This is a great merit of Oksana Moskvicheva's mentor," noted Elena Kotova, artistic swimming coach of the Karaganda region.

According to her, the competition in Asia is getting more serious every year. And these medals were won by the athletes' hard work.

In August, the juniors will go to the World Championships. Then the preparations for the Asian Games will begin. Viktor Druzin and Dayana Dzhamanchalova will be preparing for them as part of the national team.

One of the heroes of the championship was 12-year-old Daniyal Syrlybaev from Temirtau, who has been engaged in artistic swimming for four years. The young athlete admits that the preparation for the championship was not easy.

— I've been training most of the summer. It was very hard, but it was worth it. I am very happy about this medal. I want to join the national team of Kazakhstan and represent our country in international competitions," says Daniyal.
