Karaganda boxers won two gold medals at the Asian Championships

Karaganda boxers successfully competed at the Asian Championships in Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia). The region was represented by Dina Islambekova and Sabyrzhan Akkalykov as part of the national team of Kazakhstan — both athletes won gold medals.

The final match among women in the weight category over 80 kilograms became one of the highlights of the tournament. Dina Islambekova confidently fought against Alfiya Pasan from India. From the very first minutes, she seized the initiative and knocked her opponent down at the beginning of the meeting. In the third round, the situation repeated itself: one more accurate shot and a second knockdown. As a result of the match, Dina won gold.

Dina Islambekova trains under the guidance of Eldos Saidalin. She is a multiple winner and prize-winner of championships at various levels.

Sabyrzhan Akkalykov, a representative of the Karaganda region, met with Javokhir Abdurakhimov from Uzbekistan in the decisive fight in the weight category up to 75 kilograms. The match ended with a confident victory for the Kazakhstani. Sabyrzhan Akkalykov also became the champion of Asia.

The 24-year-old boxer from Shakhtinsk trains under the guidance of trainer-teacher Alexander Nasibulin, is a multiple winner and prize-winner of international competitions. In 2025, he competed at two World Championships and won a silver medal at the IBA World Championships.

The women's national team of Kazakhstan finished the Asian Championship-2026 in second place in the overall medal standings. The team has won two gold, one silver and two bronze medals. The men's national team continues to perform.
