Karaganda football player Gleb Makridov was invited to an internship at Atletico Madrid

Gleb Makridov, midfielder of Shakhter Karaganda, has been invited to watch at Atletico Madrid. The trip was a reward for recognizing him as the best player of the Freedom QJ League season.

The footballer received a grant for an overseas training camp. The program is implemented as part of the international development of the league's players in cooperation with Changan Kazakhstan.

The 19-year-old midfielder spent the past season at a high level: in 19 matches he scored 19 goals and provided 10 assists. Following the results of the tournament, Gleb Makridov set a league record for the number of minutes played — 4502, as well as for the number of effective actions — 39.

During the off-season, the player trained with the main squad of Shakhtar and scored two goals in test matches.

The trip to Madrid is for an introductory purpose: it's about a training preview, not about signing a contract. For a young player, this is an opportunity to establish himself internationally and gain experience in a new football environment.

The club notes that the practice of short-term internships for young players is part of the systematic work on the development of Karaganda football.
