Balkhash is increasing its tourist potential: the flow of tourists has increased by 40%

Balkhash strengthens the position of one of the tourist centers of the Karaganda region. In 2025, the city received 170,000 tourists, 40% more than a year earlier. The volume of services in the industry has reached 3 billion tenge.

Sapar Satayev, the mayor of the city, spoke about the development of the tourist infrastructure at a briefing.

According to him, interest in the resort potential of Balkhash is growing from year to year.

— The most important thing is that the reconstruction of the airport has been completed. From June 1, it is planned to launch subsidized flights to Astana and Almaty. In addition, the opening of the autobahn has already increased the flow of tourists by about 40%. All this creates great potential for the further development of tourism," Sapar Satayev said.

According to gorakimat, today 96 objects receive tourists in Balkhash. Last year, two hotels and two recreation areas were opened with investments of 1.4 billion tenge. This year, it is planned to launch four more tourist facilities with an investment volume of 1.7 billion tenge.

To attract business, a tourist industrial zone has been created in Bertis Bay with an area of 14 hectares, where it is planned to build hotels, health resorts and service facilities.

The infrastructure is developing at the same time: the construction of water supply networks in the Torangalyk and Shubartubek villages continues. The city's embankment has already been transformed, and the second stage of the project is being implemented this year. Work is underway to clean Bertis Bay. Visitor centers for tourists are also being opened.

The event program also contributes to the development of tourism. The Balkhash Tourfest festival is taking place on the shore of the lake, which gathered more than 50,000 participants last year.
