Representative office of Karaganda region opened in Urumqi

A regional representative office of the Karaganda region has opened in Urumqi, China. The new platform was created with the participation of SEC Saryarka and the QazTrade Trade Policy Development Center.

The mission of the representative office is to support investors from China, assist entrepreneurs of the Karaganda region in entering the Chinese market, promote local products, and organize B2B negotiations and business meetings. It is expected that the office will significantly reduce administrative and communication barriers in the implementation of joint projects.

The opening of the representative office was one of the results of the working trip of the delegation of the Karaganda region to China. Representatives of the region visited Beijing, Urumqi in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, as well as the cities of Jinan (Shandong Province) and Tangshan (Hebei Province). The delegation visited large industrial and logistics facilities, held meetings with representatives of business and government.

The negotiations resulted in agreements on cooperation in energy, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, logistics, aviation and environmental technologies. In particular, an agreement was reached in Urumqi on the implementation of an energy project — the construction of a new thermal power plant in Shakhtinsk.

Special attention was paid to the development of transport infrastructure. The parties discussed the launch of direct flights between Karaganda and Urumqi, both passenger and cargo. The issue is in the active development phase.

The possibilities of using the cargo terminal of Karaganda airport for the development of the export and logistics sector were also considered.

An agreement of intent was signed in Jinan between Sinotruk, Qaztehna LLP and Saran Machinery LLP to establish a production line for automotive components, a service center and a regional spare parts warehouse in the Karaganda region.

A memorandum was signed in Tangshan with Qaragandy Metallurgia Zauyty LLP on the construction of a cable plant in the Saryarka special economic zone. The project is focused on providing infrastructure and industrial projects in the region.

In addition, a memorandum of partnership was signed between the cities of Karaganda and Tangshan, opening up new opportunities for economic, educational and cultural exchange.

— We have managed to achieve significant results. The signed agreements create a serious foundation for the further development of the industry and investment potential of the Karaganda region. There is no less responsible work ahead on the practical implementation of all the agreements reached," said Akim of the Karaganda region Ermaganbet Bulekpayev.

The working trip was aimed at attracting investments, developing joint industrial projects with China and expanding exports of products from enterprises in the Karaganda region. The work on strengthening investment cooperation is carried out within the framework of the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan.
