AgroSky: in Karaganda, drones and AI increase yields and reduce farmers' costs

Karaganda has developed a technology that can reduce farmers' costs for water fertilizers and fuel by almost a third and at the same time increase yields AgroSky startup created by two graduates and an employee of Karaganda Technical University named after Abylkas Saginov offers a new approach to agricultural management the system analyzes the condition of crops and soil using special drones and artificial intelligence algorithms

The essence of the project is to use accurate data Drones conduct regular field flights collect multispectral images and transmit them to the analysis system Artificial intelligence processes this data identifies problem areas calculates the optimal amount of fertilizers, and makes recommendations for irrigation This way you can avoid unnecessary consumption of water and fertilizers and direct resources only to where they are really needed

According to preliminary estimates the technology can reduce the cost of water fertilizers and fuel by about 30% while increasing yields by 10-15% The drones have already been field tested this summer

— We conducted experimental research flights over fields near the Zhartas village. The goal was to collect multispectral data and test the algorithms in real-world conditions Based on the survey we have obtained, we have built a detailed map of the state of the fields She identified areas with an overabundance of phosphorus nitrogen potassium and carbon as well as areas with signs of agronomic stress This data is needed to calibrate equipment refine algorithms, and prepare the system for new pilot tests" says Dmitry Ozhigin, the project's scientific director

In the spring of 2025, the startup was recognized internationally the team applied for participation in the GCIP 2025 (Global Cleantech Innovation Program) The project has gained access to international mentors educational programs, and expert support

The selection process for the acceleration program was multi-stage and highly competitive The projects were evaluated for innovation environmental impact scaling potential, and technological readiness Out of about 250 applications AgroSky was among the 50 teams allowed to participate in the GCIPKazakhstan program

— Participation in the accelerator was a powerful boost for us It helped to test hypotheses refine the product get valuable recommendations from experts and build a clear project development strategy" said the team leader
