Abai district expands industrial potential

Over the past six months, 41 billion tenge worth of products have been produced in the Abai district, and by the end of the year it is planned to almost double this figure to 73 billion tenge. New plants, expansion of the range of industries and modernization of existing enterprises will provide the basis for growth.

Among the key projects is the construction of a plant for the production of small and refined ferroalloys by MTL—Ferroloys LLP. The commissioning of the facility is scheduled for 2026. About 100 jobs will be created at the plant.

Another important project is the construction of a full—cycle meat processing plant with a slaughterhouse of Alisha Group LLP. The company will process over 2 thousand tons of meat per year for export.

After modernization, Agroindustrial Complex Volynsky LLP is launching drying equipment in the agroindustrial sector, which will ensure the production of compound feeds with its own raw materials.

In parallel, the modernization of existing production facilities is underway. The Topar SRPP is completing the replacement of turbine unit No. 3, increasing its capacity from 100 to 130 MW. Major repairs of boilers and turbines are being carried out, and an ash dump is being built. By the end of the year, the forecast for electricity generation will be 3.5 billion kWh.

Five investment projects are being implemented at the Vostochnaya Central Processing Plant, which will increase concentrate output to 2 million tons. The Karaganda Nerud company has updated its mining equipment and plans to increase production volumes.

Small-scale industrial production also occupies its niche. Demeter LLP, which opened last year, manufactures equipment for the mining and metallurgical industries. European and Chinese technologies for repairing parts have been introduced here, which reduces dependence on imports for local enterprises. Technologies can be used not only in heavy industry, but also in the housing and communal services sector.

— To increase the reliability of heating networks, we offer a technology for protecting the inner surface of pipelines with a wear-resistant anti-corrosion coating. It increases the capacity of pipes, prevents corrosion and accumulation of deposits," said Sergey Domoevsky, director of the company. — In addition, we produce polymer conveyor rollers for the mines of the region. Their service life is three times higher than standard ones, and the material is not susceptible to gorenje.

Special attention is paid to supporting entrepreneurship. Over 7.3 thousand people are employed in the area of small and medium-sized businesses. Since the beginning of the year, six new trade and service facilities have been opened, and 20 jobs have been created. The Damu Foundation has supported three projects worth 56 million tenge. Residents from socially vulnerable categories received five grants to start their own businesses, and five more people, as well as young entrepreneurs, will receive the same grants by the end of the year.

— This year we see positive dynamics in several areas at once. A meat processing plant should be operational in the district by the end of the year, and a ferroalloy production facility in 2026. Metallurgy is a new direction for the Abai region. Previously, the focus was mainly on the mining sector, but now our task is to develop the manufacturing industry and open up new areas," said Darizhan Myrzakhmetova, Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Industry of the Abai district.
