Kazakhmys will finance four major social projects in Karaganda region

Kazakhmys Corporation will support the development of the social sphere in the Karaganda region. An agreement was reached with the akimat of the region. Following a meeting between the head of the region, Yermaganbet Bulekpayev, and the Chairman of the Board of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, Nurakhmet Nuriyev, an agreement worth a total of 20 billion tenge was signed. The funds will be allocated to four major socially significant projects in Balkhash and Karkaralinsk.

According to Saken Shayakhmetov, Managing Director for Sustainable Development and Communications of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, a sports and recreation complex and kindergarten will be built in Balkhash, as well as the reconstruction of the Khamzin Palace of Culture. It is planned to build a Palace of Childhood and Youth in Karkaralinsk.

Kazakhmys and the Akimat signed a roadmap for the implementation of these projects. It covers all stages: from the selection of land plots for new social facilities to commissioning.

Ermaganbet Bulekpaev set specific tasks. The sports and recreation complex should have a swimming pool, a table tennis hall and be accessible to people with disabilities. Akim of the region instructed to prepare a project for the reconstruction of the Khamzin Palace of Culture and discuss it with the city community. At the same time, it is important to preserve the historical appearance of the object. It is also necessary to plan the construction of a kindergarten next to a new school in Balkhash to improve the educational infrastructure. All projects under the agreement will be completed by the end of 2027.
