The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan assessed the digitalization work carried out by the regions. Among the leaders of the rating were the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Uralsk.
The study involved 14 regional centers and 3 cities of republican significance. The assessment was carried out on the basis of the reference standard of "smart cities" consisting of 11 different areas and 80 indicators. They dealt with digital initiatives in healthcare, education, housing and communal services, transport, ecology, social sphere, etc.
In particular, when compiling the rating, attention was paid to the automation of public services of akimats, the presence of smart meters in houses, the number of registered startups, the introduction of intelligent transport systems, the availability of applications for monitoring public transport, etc.
According to Vice Minister Ablaykhan Ospanov, this rating is intended to increase the digital activity of the regions.
“The state program“ Digital Kazakhstan ”was adopted two years ago. During this time, many digital projects have been implemented in the regions. Of course, some akimats were more active in this direction, some less. Therefore, in order to show the general picture, we have compiled this rating. I think it will become a good incentive for increasing digital activity in the regions, ”Ospanov stressed.
The first place in the rating was taken by the city of Nur-Sultan, the second place was taken by the city of Almaty, and the city of Uralsk closes the top three of the country's digital leaders.
Note that this rating will be compiled annually. The rating results for 2019 can be found at the link: https://egov.kz/cms/ru/smart-cities
