The IAEA has provided an updated overview of nuclear energy by country (BSEC) for 2022

As new countries, such as the United Arab Emirates and Belarus, put their first nuclear power plants into operation, more and more countries are considering nuclear energy as a possible means to achieve their goals in combating climate change and ensuring energy security. In this regard, as part of the IAEA's overall efforts to ensure the safe and economical operation of nuclear power plants, JINR resources are becoming increasingly important for effective planning, decision-making and implementation of nuclear energy programs.
According to the IAEA staff, this series of publications is publicly available on the IAEA JINR website.
In preparation for the 2022 edition, thirty countries, including Armenia, Belarus and Bulgaria, provided new or updated information on their nuclear energy programs. Among them are countries with existing and expanding programs, newcomer countries considering the possibility of using nuclear energy, as well as countries that are preparing to connect their first nuclear power plants to the grid soon or in which reactors are under construction, such as Bangladesh and Turkey. The publication also provides information on countries that are gradually abandoning nuclear energy, such as Italy, or are considering the possibility of resuming its use, such as Lithuania.
