A brutal assassination attempt took place in Almaty

Last summer, a man with bullet wounds was found on the territory of the Almaty DEPOT.

An interdepartmental operational investigation group under the leadership of the Semirechensk Transport Prosecutor's Office acted to solve the resonant case.

By the measures taken together with the transport police, citizen "A" was exposed and detained in the commission of an audacious crime.

The investigation found that the criminal fired 4 shots at the victim, three of which reached the target.

The criminal intent caused by hostile relations was not realized only thanks to the actions of the victim, who was able to dodge the first shot aimed at his head.

By the verdict of the specialized interdistrict Criminal Court of Almaty dated 30.03.2022, citizen "A" was found guilty of attempted murder with a sentence of imprisonment for a period of 10 years.

Also convicted was citizen "K", who helped hide the gun, who was given a suspended sentence of 3 years and 6 months.

The State Prosecutor, not agreeing with an excessively lenient sentence against a person who helped hide the traces of a particularly serious crime, submitted a motion for a review of the sentence.

The appellate instance supported the prosecutor's position, and sentenced the citizen "K" to real imprisonment.
