During the work of the customs authorities at the posts "Kalzhat", "Nur Zholy", "Khorgos" and "Altynkol", located in the Almaty region, it is not uncommon to find and seize goods illegally imported into our country.

In most cases, such goods are either destroyed or sold at auction with the transfer of the proceeds to the state budget after a decision is made against its owner, by a court decision.

At the same time, in cases where the owner of the smuggled goods cannot be identified (according to the practice of customs authorities), the goods remain in temporary storage warehouses (hereinafter referred to as SVH) for an indefinite period.

The analysis of the Taldykorgan Transport Prosecutor's Office found that in this way, a significant amount of goods worth millions of tenge has accumulated at the SVH since 2014.

At the same time, according to the requirements of the current legislation, the detained goods are stored by the customs authorities for thirty calendar days, and the goods subject to rapid damage – for twenty-four hours. In the future, they are subject to transfer to the authorized body for sale or destruction.

Only according to preliminary estimates, 278 items of goods were not transferred and sold by the authorized body in a timely manner.

According to the act of supervision of the prosecutor's Office, the customs authorities have begun work on determining the future fate of these goods.

The measures taken are already bearing positive fruit.

For example, the KSU "Taldykorgan Center for the provision of special social Services" Kamkor " received new bedding in the amount of about 10 million tenge, which until that time was just gathering dust on the SVH.

The work continues, according to its results, it is expected to replenish the state budget with significant funds.
