Medical goods for humanitarian purposes were used for personal purposes

Since last year, the whole of humanity has been shaken by the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.

From time to time, there was an acute shortage of primary medical protection in the country, the deficit of which was compensated at the expense of the state, as well as through humanitarian assistance.

Goods imported for this purpose are not subject to taxes and customs payments.

However, some unscrupulous entrepreneurs took advantage of this rule, despite the difficult time for the country and citizens.

So, in November last year, the Kyzylorda Transport Prosecutor's Office revealed the fact of evasion of taxes and customs payments by a private company.

Under the guise of humanitarian aid, the company imported medical goods to Kazakhstan (disposable and reusable protective overalls, safety glasses, hats, medical masks, rubber gloves, shoe covers with a total weight of 123 kg) for a total amount of more than 3,400,000 tenge.

Subsequently, the company used the goods for its own purposes, and did not intend to provide humanitarian assistance to organizations in need.

In such cases, the entrepreneur had to import the goods on a general basis with the payment of mandatory payments to the state treasury.

As a result, according to the prosecutor's office, the company was subjected to a customs inspection, it was charged the corresponding payments, which it was paid in full.
