Transport prosecutors - suppressed facts of illegal import and export of medical devices

In November of this year, transport prosecutors at the Almaty airport stopped the import of medical goods worth more than 400 million tenge, which were imported to Kazakhstan under the guise of humanitarian aid.

According to the customs legislation, humanitarian cargo is exempt from customs duties (articles 80, 336 of the Code "on customs regulation in the Republic of Kazakhstan").

However, in the future, the goods were sold by a private company, and not directed to humanitarian purposes.

In such cases, the company had to pay customs duties and taxes, which in this particular case amounted to more than 40 million tenge.

The criminal case against the perpetrators was registered in the ERDR under part 1 of article 236 of the criminal code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (evasion of customs duties, customs duties, taxes...) and is being investigated by the Department of economic investigations in Almaty.

In another case, transport prosecutors stopped the fact of export of goods restricted to export outside the country.

In particular, the company tried to export medical personal protective equipment (protective suits) worth more than 140 million tenge to a foreign country.

This fact was registered by the Prosecutor's office in the ERDR under article 234, part 2, paragraph 4 of the Criminal code (economic smuggling).

On November 10 of this year, the guilty person was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months of restriction of freedom by the verdict of the Turksib district court.
