The 22nd meeting of the Intergovernmental Council on the Timber Industry and Forestry was held

On November 28-29, 2023, the 22nd meeting of the Intergovernmental Council on the Timber Industry and Forestry was held in Minsk.

The meeting was attended by Acting Chairman of the Forestry and Wildlife Committee Daniyar Turgambayev and Head of the Regional Territorial Inspectorate of Forestry and Wildlife in the region Abai Maksat Elemesov.

The meeting discussed topical issues on the implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation on the Prevention and Elimination of foci of Diseases and Pests of Forests in Border areas, on the prevention and extinguishing of wildfires in the border areas of the CIS member states.

The participating States noted the need to develop cooperation on the development of unified information systems for early detection of forest fires, joint tactical exercises to extinguish forest fires, the development of digitalization of the forest industry, as well as the introduction of technologies allowing the transfer of forestry to «continuous» forest management.
