Information about the death of fish in the Caspian Sea
On September 18, 2023, employees of the Ural-Caspian interregional Basin fisheries Inspectorate during a raid event revealed the fact of fish death in the Land of "Sevryuzhya Kosa" of the Isatai District of Atyrau region.
Earlier it was reported that according to the current scheme of interaction, all members of the Working Group (local executive bodies, fisheries scientific organizations, veterinary service of the region, environmental and police departments, environmental prosecutor's office) were promptly notified of this fact.
On September 19 of this year, the inspection staff urgently came out to check the information. Upon arrival at the said place, the death of mullet fish was confirmed.
Specialists of the Department of ecology of Atyrau region took soil samples with the conclusion of an appropriate act. In addition, it was not possible to take samples for laboratory tests due to the strong decomposition of the bodies of fish.
Local executive bodies carried out work on collecting dead fish in compliance with sanitary standards. The total weight of the collected fish was 1 ton 380 kg.
According to preliminary data, the death of fish is due to flaring phenomena in the Caspian Sea, that is, the displacement of water from the coast to the deep distance of the sea.
We note that in the Caspian Sea, Wind phenomena are observed in the direction of the wind, that is, the water retreats for several tens of kilometers, from 5 to 25 km, and with a sharp shift in water masses, fish die. A similar fact was recorded in September 2022 in the Caspian Sea.
