The national training seminar on sustainable development of fish farming in the Republic of Kazakhstan is held with the support of the FAO
In 2021, the Ministry of Ecology and natural resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter - ETRM) intensified work on cooperation with the International Organization FAO in the field of Fisheries.
For example, within the framework of the FAO - Turkey partnership program in the field of food and agriculture, on December 7, 2021, the MEPR signed the project document "capacity building in the interests of sustainable management of fish farming and aquaculture in Central Asia (FISHCap)", the coordinator and donor of which is the Government of the Republic of Turkey.
FishCap is a project called" creating potential for sustainable management of fish farming and aquaculture in Central Asia".
The basis for signing the draft document is the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on the establishment of the FAO Bureau for communications and partnership in the Republic of Kazakhstan, approved by the resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 22, 2015 No. 382.
Within the framework of FishCap, a number of events are held that contribute to the development of aquaculture in Central Asia.
FishCap project:
- Organization of regional trainings and seminars on the development of fisheries in Kazakhstan with the involvement of international experts;
- development of technical and applied documents in the field of aquaculture;
- it will allow attracting project funds for the implementation of small pilot projects in the field of Fisheries.
 On February 3, 2022, a meeting of the steering committee of the FISH Cap project was held, at which the Fisheries Committee presented an event to conduct a training seminar on fish farming training.
Taking into account the funds allocated for this event, the fisheries committee instructed the Interregional Basin fisheries inspectorate to nominate candidates for representatives of the business community, beginners in fish farming and participants of the training seminar from among fish farmers who wish to exchange experience in this direction with potential investors.
Thus, a list of potential participants of the training seminar was formed in all regions.
In the future, the MPR will propose to carry out other activities for the further development of Fisheries, taking into account the positive dynamics of the development of cooperation with the FAO within the framework of the FISHCap project.
