It should be noted that kutum was previously included and subsequently excluded from the red books of the Caspian littoral states due to a positive assessment of the state of the population.
The results of many years of scientific research indicate the restoration of the kutum population in the Caspian Sea and off the coast of the Mangystau region. According to scientists, the state of the population and the conditions for the sustainable existence of kutum have been restored to the limits that ensure the preservation of the gene pool and exclude the threat to their natural reproduction.
In this regard, the Zoological Commission recommended to exclude kutum from the Red Book of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This will expand the species composition of commercial fish species in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea and will contribute to the further development of fisheries in the Caspian region.
Based on the recommendation of the Zoological Commission, a draft Government decree on the exclusion of kutum fish from the Red Book of Kazakhstan will be prepared in accordance with the established procedure.
