Press release on the death of fish on the reservoir "Nameless"
On April 26, 2022, during the monitoring of the controlled territory, employees of the Zhaiyk-Caspian interregional basin Inspection of fisheries revealed the death of fish in the "Nameless" reservoir, which is a natural spawning ground for partial species of fish. Upon inspection, it was found that during the spawning process, a small part of the fish, mainly roach, was carried out by the current to a shallow zone, as a result of which their death occurred.

A working group, which included representatives of the local executive body (Deputy Akim of Atyrau region, head of the Atyrau Region Fisheries Department), as well as employees of the Zhaiyk-Caspian Interregional Basin Fisheries Inspection and the Department of Ecology of Atyrau region, promptly went to the scene of the incident.

On the same day, events were organized to collect dead fish. In total, 65 kg of young roaches were collected. Every year in the spring, at the onset of spawning temperatures, partial species of fish migrate from wintering sites to shallow areas of the river. In the Atyrau region, such natural spawning grounds are available in the old villages of the Zhaiyk River in the Makhambet and Inder districts.

It should be noted that in order to create favorable conditions, the Inspection before spawning migrations carried out work on deepening and clearing migration routes, which allowed for unhindered passage and preventing the death of the bulk of the migrating fish population.

Currently, the main part of the fish has passed to the spawning sites. In the future, with the lowering of the water level in the river and the shunting of the old ones, measures will be organized to catch spawned fish and juveniles with their subsequent release into the main riverbed.

Currently, the spawning process is monitored throughout the river.
