Fish-breeding enterprises of the Fisheries Committee of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan annually carry out measures for the artificial reproduction of fish resources of fishery reservoirs within the framework of the state order.
This year, since the beginning of the fish-breeding season, the Ural-Atyrau Sturgeon Hatchery has caught 55 individuals of sturgeon fish species for artificial reproduction purposes.
So, on April 21, 2022, for the purpose of artificial cultivation of juvenile sturgeon fish species, 35 kg of caviar was obtained from a 190 kg female beluga caught on April 19 of this year on the Zhaiyk River.
The fertilized eggs are placed in incubation devices until the larval stage, then they will be grown in pools and then transplanted into growing ponds. The grown beluga juveniles will be released into their natural habitat in July – August of this year.
At the moment, the condition of the female beluga is assessed as satisfactory. Depending on the results of the domestication attempt, it will be used to form a breeding stock, and if it is impossible to keep it in artificial conditions, it will be released into the Caspian Sea.
In general, in 2022, it is planned to release 93.1 million pieces of juveniles of valuable fish species into the natural habitat, including 7.5 million pieces of sturgeon juveniles.
