Experiment on selectivity/selectivity of traditional fishing gear (nylon nets) and monofilament nets (fishing line)​

As part of the control fishing with the participation of the Balkhash-Alakol inter-regional basin inspection of fisheries (department of Balkhash Fish Inspections) and the Balkhash branch of the Scientific and Production Center of Fisheries, an experiment was conducted on the selectivity / selectivity of traditional fishing gear (nylon nets) and monofilament nets (fishing lines) with a mesh pitch from 30 to 100 mm.

Research works on western Balkhash will be carried out from 15.04 to 22.04.2022, on eastern Balkhash from 20.04 to 27.04.2022.

Based on the results, recommendations will be given on fishing gear with a minimum size of the constructive step of the mesh, which will not allow the by-catch of juvenile fish (not commercial sizes, i.e. immature individuals) to preserve and ensure the reproduction of fish resources.
