The annual republican action "Clean Reservoirs" has started in the Turkestan region, during which five tons of garbage were removed during the day and about 200 fish were rescued.
About 30 thousand meters of unattended fishing nets were caught.
It should be noted that the Shardara reservoir covers an area of 72 thousand hectares. About 200 social activists took part in the cleaning of this territory, 15 pieces of equipment, 9 units of water transport were involved.
"Such actions are of great importance for the conservation of the biodiversity of our reservoirs for the future generation. We clean reservoirs from abandoned (ownerless) fishing gear, from garbage on coastal territories. Without words, it brings a lot of benefits for the environment. I urge everyone to observe cleanliness on water bodies, habitats of fish resources and other aquatic animals," said Pazylbek Nalibayev, head of the Aral-Syrdarya Interregional Fisheries Inspection.
It is worth noting that last year about 60 thousand tons of garbage were cleared from the reservoirs of the Turkestan region, about 200 units of special equipment were involved and more than a thousand eco-activists were involved.
Recall that this environmental action is held annually at the national level. This year it will be held continuously from March 18 to May 31.
