A violator who was engaged in illegal fishing was detained at the Bukhtarma reservoir

On February 8, 2022, employees of the Zaisan-Irtysh Interregional Basin Fisheries Inspection, together with employees of the Police Department for the East Kazakhstan region, detained citizen A. during raid activities at the Bukhtarma reservoir, who was producing fish resources using prohibited fishing gear.

According to the results of the inspection, 100 m of nets made of synthetic monofilaments, 1 ice axe, as well as partial fish species with a total weight of 178 kg were seized from this violator. The damage caused to fish resources amounted to about 980 thousand tenge.

In this regard, the materials and material evidence were transferred to the Kokpekty police department for the initiation of a criminal case.

It should be noted that according to Article 335 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, illegal extraction of fish resources and other aquatic animals is punishable by a fine of up to three thousand monthly calculation indices, or community service for up to eight hundred hours, or restriction of liberty for up to three years, or imprisonment for the same period, with confiscation of property, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to five years.
