The visit took place in order to implement the Comprehensive Program for Development of Cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026, signed by the Presidents of two countries in Baku in 2022.
During a bilateral meeting with the Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of Azerbaijan Mr. Vugar Gulmammadov, Mr. Alikhan Smailov noted that the interaction of the supreme audit institutions of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan is developing in the spirit of friendship, reliable partnership and mutual support.
The institutions have close relations both in a bilateral format and through international organizations (INTOSAI, ASOSAI, ECOSAI, CIS).
"In April, within the framework of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions, auditors of our countries successfully conducted an audit of ASOSAI accounts. This is not only a huge responsibility, but also a great opportunity for the professional development of our auditors," said the Chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
He recalled that in January of this year, an Action Plan was signed to strengthen cooperation between the Supreme Audit Chamber of Kazakhstan and the Chamber of Accounts of Azerbaijan for 2024-2026.
Within implementation of the plan, the exchange of experience and knowledge is already underway, which contributes to the mutual improvement of competencies in the field of public audit.
Also, on the first day of the visit, an updated Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Supreme Audit Chamber of Kazakhstan and the Chamber of Accounts of Azerbaijan in the field of bilateral cooperation.
The Memorandum provides for the exchange of expertise in the field of public sector auditing in such areas as methodology, standards and procedures of performance audit, financial audit, compliance audit, IT audit, etc. In addition, the parties will cooperate in terms of professional training and advanced training of their employees.
"The signing of the updated Memorandum of Understanding today is another important step towards expanding and strengthening cooperation between our institutions" Alikhan Smailov noted.
In conclusion, the Chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan invited the Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of Azerbaijan to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan in 2025.
Within the framework of the event, Alikhan Smailov also presented commemorative awards to distinguished employees of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan in honor of the professional holiday of civil servants.
