The 9th Meeting of the Working Group on Environmental Audit of ASOSAI has ended

On August 23-24, 2023, the 9th meeting of the Working group on Environmental Audit of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (WGEA ASOSAI) was held in Astana, organized by the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Environmental audit is an important tool in the environmental safety system of any country. And the role of the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) in this area is crucial.

During the seminars, more than 30 highly professional specialists from 16 foreign countries, members of the ASOSAI WGEA, shared their knowledge and experience in improving the methodology and developing new methods of environmental audit.

Within the framework of the event, the Green Vision Award ceremony was held. Having announced the SAI of Indonesia as the winner of the second Green Vision Awards 2023, the ASOSAI WGEA Secretariat invited the Supreme Audit Institutions to participate in the competition.

The progress of the implementation of the joint audit project of the WGEA ASOSAI "Water Resources Management in the Mekong River Basin", carried out by the SAI of Vietnam and the research project of the WGEA ASOSAI "Audit of Climate finance", carried out by the SAI of Thailand, was told by the Chairman of the WGEA ASOSAI, Mr. Li Feng, Deputy General Auditor of the SAI of China.

The meeting participants discussed proposals to launch new joint audits and studies, and also heard a report on the activities of the ASOSAI WGEA and its other regional divisions. Presentations of the audit commissions of the Republic of Kazakhstan were also presented.

At the end of the event, the Working Plan of the ASOSAI WGEA for 2023-2024 was approved, and the venue of the next, 10th Working Meeting was determined.
