This measure is temporary and will be in effect until September 1, 2020, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.
Timely approval by the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan the Order dated March 27, 2020 "On some issues of supply of petroleum products to the Republic of Kazakhstan from the Russian Federation" allowed to ensure a comfortable balance between the amount produced and consumed petroleum products (expiration of the order June of this year).
At the same time, now the level of oil product reserves in the domestic market is currently at a fairly high level, and if additional volumes of imported fuel are received, it may negatively affect domestic oil refining. Namely, it may lead to:
- reduce the volume of oil products shipped from Kazakhstan refineries;
- overstocking of factory tank farms, as well as storage bases of all oil depots in the country;
- as a result, the forced reduction of oil refining, which will lead to a decrease in the production of other valuable types of petroleum products, such as diesel and aviation fuel.
To ensure the country's energy security, the Ministry of Energy has introduced a ban on the import of gasoline, aviation and diesel fuel to the Republic of Kazakhstan by rail, road and pipeline transport.
It is worth noting that this measure is temporary and will be in effect until September 1, 2020.
