A record price reduction was recorded following the results of auctions for wind energy projects

The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan held an auction for the selection of renewable energy projects.

The auction for the selection of wind power station projects with a total installed capacity of 50 MW, held on November 10 of this year at the site of JSC KOREM, was recognized as having taken place.

13 companies were allowed to participate in the auction, 86 price proposals were submitted by the participants during the trading session, the unit capacity of the projects ranged 50 MW. The total volume of applications submitted was 5500 MW. The maximum auction price during the auction for the selection of WPP projects in 2021 was 21,53 tg/kWh (without VAT).

During the trading session, the price range of bids received from auction participants ranged from 21,53 to 14,08 tenge/kWh (without VAT).

According to the results of the auction, the following companies were identified as winners:

Hyperborea LLP (Kazakhstan) installed capacity of the project 50 MW, auction price 14,08 tg/kWh (without VAT).

During the auction, representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, NCE "Atameken", the Association Qazaq Green, the Association of Renewable Energy of Kazakhstan, KAZENERGY, USAID took part as observers. Observers noted that the auction was conducted in accordance with the approved regulatory legal acts and confirmed the transparency of the electronic trading system of the auction organizer – JSC "KOREM".

The next auction is scheduled for 11.11.2021 for the type of HPP 100 MW.

According to the auction Schedule approved by the Order of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 251 dated 30.07.2021, auctions in the amount of 200 MW of installed capacity are planned for 2021, broken down by types of power plants:

- solar power plants – 20 MW;

- wind power plants – 50 MW;

- hydroelectric power plants – 120 MW;

- BioPP - 10 MW.
