On June 20, 2018 within a framework of the introduction of the market of electric capacity since 2019, a simulated trading capacity for the Northern Zone of the Unified Electric Power System of Kazakhstan (UES) was conducted. This work is aimed at a large-scale explanation to the participants of the forthcoming functioning of the electric power market and testing of the software product of “KOREM” JSC.
The simulated trading capacity for the Northern Zone of the EEC was conducted with the following initial parameters:
- the maximum tariff - 700 thousand tenge / MW;
- the purchased capacity at the auction - 3452 MW;
- the delivery period is from 01/01/2019 until 31.12.2019.
During the simulated trades with the capacity of energy producing organizations, 23 applications were submitted for the sale of services for maintaining the readiness of electric power, with a total volume of 4504 MW.
As a result of the trading session, the Single Purchaser concluded 21 transactions, with a total volume of 3,452 MW, not sold volume amounted to 1,052 MW. The weighted average price for the Northern Zone of the UES was 651 thousand tenge / MW.
Participants who, following the results of the simulated trading in the Northern Zone, did not realize their volume are allowed to bid for the throughput capacity of the North-South transit. At the same time, the price of the submitted applications should not exceed the value of the value realized for the Northern Zone of the UES.
