About 680 thousand people with disabilities live in Kazakhstan, including 418 thousand of working age (61.5%), 87 thousand children under 18 years (12.8%). In 2018, 294.2 billion tenge was allocated from the national budget for their social protection.
The Minister of labor and social protection Berdibek Saparbayev reported about it during the reporting meeting with the population.
"Since July 2018, a new benefit for the care of an adult disabled person of the first group since childhood has been introduced. From 1 July this year, the amount of state benefits for the care of children with disabilities and for persons over 18 years of the first group of disability from childhood will be increased. The amount of benefits for 100 thousand citizens will be increased from 31 183 tenge to 41 578 tenge", the Minister said.
Along with this, the work on introducing the Portal of social services has been carried out.
"This portal will allow persons with disabilities to choose the necessary technical means of rehabilitation and services on their own, without public procurement, taking into account their individual needs. As a whole, the work on ensuring the rights and improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities is an important priority of the Ministry", - the Head of the Department concluded.
It should be noted that in May this year, the National plan to ensure the rights and improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities until 2025 was adopted, which includes a set of measures for social protection, education, health care, advanced training of social workers, etc.
"Our main task is the qualitative implementation of the measures of the National plan at all levels," the Minister concluded.
