June 12 - World Day Against Child Labor

Annually on June 12, World Day for Combating Child Labor is celebrated, whose goal is to eradicate it.

In order to prevent the use of child labor, the Labor Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan determines the age at which an employment contract has been authorized. So, children from 14 to 16 years old have the right to work legally in their free time from studies not more than 24 hours a week.

In addition, the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan provides for liability for violation by the employer of labor legislation with regard to the involvement of minors in work that prohibits the employment of workers.

"Today in Kazakhstan, the facts of bringing minors to work are revealed mainly on the objects of service, trade, and agriculture. The emphasis in this direction is given to the prevention and prevention of child labor. In case of revealing the facts of child labor, we recommend that you apply to the regional state labor inspectorates, "said Akmadi Sarbasov, Chief State Labor Inspector of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On this day, events are held to highlight the issues of child labor in front of the public. In the regions, explanatory work is carried out at the level of districts and cities to prevent child labor.

As noted by A. Sarbasov, the effectiveness in eliminating child labor is impossible without coordinated actions of interested state bodies, organizations, social partners.

Recall that the World Day Against Child Labor (World Day Against Child Labor) was established by the International Labor Organization (ILO). The idea to introduce a new date into the calendar arose after the conference on combating the worst forms of child labor and the international conference on child labor, held in Amsterdam and Oslo in 1997.
