As a result of violations of fire safety requirements during the operation of household gas appliances during the heating period of 2020-2021, 5 cases of natural gas poisoning were registered during the heating season, as a result of which 4 people died (including 2 children), 3 people were injured. Compared to last season, the number of poisonings decreased by half, the dead - by two and a half times, the injured - by 33%.

In order to prevent accidents in the upcoming heating season, a mobile group led by the head of the Department of Emergency Situations of Shymkent, Colonel Madiyar Zhaksibayev, carried out preventive work. The event was organized in a private residential sector in the village of Telman, Abai district.

The head of the department reminded the citizens that heating appliances and equipment must be prepared today. He particularly drew attention to gas appliances, noting that their incorrect installation would lead to a tragedy. It was warned that timely cleaning of chimneys, elimination of cracks and whitewashing of the furnace are among the important precautions.

Specialists of the gas industry, who were part of the mobile group, checked gas leaks on gas equipment in a residential building with special devices. Also, specialists of the Emergency Management Department of the Abai district installed gasifiers. These devices are installed to help in the homes of large, low-income families.
