Fires from household gas appliances often occur due to violations of fire safety rules. The main cause of these fires is gas leakage due to leakage of pipelines, connecting nodes or through gas stove burners.
Natural and liquefied balloon gas can form explosive mixtures with air. That is why, when you feel the smell of gas in the room, you can not light matches, lighters, turn on or off electric switches, enter the room with an open fire or with a cigarette – all this can cause a gas explosion. A significant number of fires occur as a result of the rupture of gas cylinders, usually due to their heating. Cylinders are heated more often in winter, when, without waiting for thawing at room temperature, to eliminate freezing of the shut-off valve, they are installed near heating devices or lowered into hot water.
In gasified apartments, it is recommended to ventilate the rooms in which gas stoves are installed every morning. It is strictly forbidden to use fire to detect gas leaks, only soap solution can be used.
If a gas leak has occurred from an open tap on a gas appliance, then it must be closed, the room must be thoroughly ventilated and only after that you can light a fire.
Children and persons unfamiliar with the device of these devices should not be allowed to turn on and use gas appliances. If you smell gas, you need to stop using gas appliances and turn them off.
In order to avoid accidents, it is prohibited:
- open the tap on the gas pipeline in front of the stove without checking whether all the taps on the switchboard of the stove are closed;
- open the taps of the stove without having a lighted match in your hand;
- allow the burning burners to be filled with liquid. If this happens by accident, you need to extinguish the burner, clean it, remove the liquid from the pan;
- remove the burner and put the dishes directly on the burner;
- knock on taps, burners with solid objects, as well as turn the handles of taps with tongs, forceps, keys, etc.;
- repair the stove or gas-producing pipelines independently;
- tie ropes to gas stoves, pipes and cranes, hang clothes and other things on them.
And the main rule is NEVER check gas cylinders for gas leakage with an open flame (matches, lighters)! If you smell gas - immediately open all the windows, do not turn on the light, leave the house and immediately call the service "104".
