Preparation for the heating season
In order to prepare for the upcoming heating period of 2021-2022, employees of the Department of Emergency Situations of the Atyrau region together with media representatives conducted another raid in the residential sector.
During the raid, a tour of the homes of socially vulnerable segments of the population (large and low-income families) was carried out to remind about the strict observance of fire safety rules in everyday life, including during the operation of stove heating.
The employees brought the basic requirements of the fire safety rules to the operation of electrical equipment and heating stoves.
"Currently, 1,965 families classified as socially vulnerable segments of the population are registered in the Atyrau region. There are 249 alarms installed in the houses of these categories of citizens, including 189 sensors for detecting natural gas, 40 sensors for detecting carbon monoxide, 20 sensors for detecting the smell of smoke," said Zhasulan Aktayev, Deputy head of the Department of Civil Protection Colonel.
Carbon monoxide has no color, taste and smell. It is possible to determine its leakage only with the help of a special sensor. When carbon monoxide is detected, the sensor is triggered - it emits a sound signal. According to statistics, carbon monoxide poisoning most often occurs at night, that is, in a dream. A person does not even have time to understand and feel the effects of gas.
"In order to prevent fires in the residential sector during the heating season, 45 raids were carried out in Atyrau region from August 15 of this year to the present time, covering 2,155 houses, 4,651 citizens. During the raid work, more than 2 thousand memos about fire safety were distributed, " explained the deputy head of the State Fire Control Department, Major of Civil Protection G. Babayev.
In this regard, in preparation for the upcoming heating period of 2021-2022, the Emergency Department of Atyrau region calls on residents of the region to prepare carefully: repair heating appliances, clean pipes from soot, as well as bring all electrical wiring in the house into proper condition and strictly observe fire safety rules!
